We redesigned the way Microsoft attracts and retains 250,000+ employees annually. Our prior recruitment system was focused on functional elements of employment and lacked emotion—while our new system invites candidates to imagine the impact they might have worldwide at Microsoft: a calling they might pursue, not just a job they apply for. Addressing desire for positive impact and illustrating Microsoft’s culture in a poignant manner, the new system invites people to imagine themselves at Microsoft. Emotive, mission-driven, flexible, it offers people personal reasons to join and stay—and consider what should be valued throughout a career.
