Automated teller machine (ATM) interface
BBVAATMs were introduced over 40 years ago and since then many features have been added to the machines in order to offer a wide range of transactions. Nevertheless, the actual interaction experience has remained largely untouched. In 2007, the Spanish bank BBVA asked Ideo to re-think their self-service channel: the question was not how to further automate the teller, but rather how to humanize the machine. It took an unprecedented cooperation across the industry to make this vision possible BBVA, IDEO, NCR and Fujitsu. In 2009, the first units have been installed, while the team prepares to roll out the ATM across their Spanish branches.
