Tando
Open-Source Platform for Local Development
In economically disadvantaged regions, accessing essential goods can be a significant challenge. Born from a need for affordable, locally producible solutions, Tando has evolved into a globally scalable concept. An app allows users to place or accept enquiries on items, access or create open-source instructions, offer services and resources, connect with stakeholders, and exchange on topics. By utilizing locally available tools and materials, Tando empowers communities to acquire the necessary goods and pass on traditional craft techniques, fostering independence, collaboration, and local economic growth.
Tando proposes inclusive, resourceful designs tailored to the specific needs of each community. By democratizing the design and empowering local participation, Tando makes it possible for everyone to contribute to meaningful solutions. A very impressive concept.
WINNER STATEMENTI feel truly honoured and grateful to receive the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD. For me, the designer's role is to listen, to connect, and to empower people to act in their own right. My warmest thanks go to everyone who contributed their knowledge, experience, and trust to Tando.
