Phone service for seniors

NTT DOCOMO, INC.

This service uses a phone to assess cognitive decline, the signs of which are difficult for the suffered person, and even for their family and colleagues to notice. A user only needs to make phone call and answers only two questions (20 sec.) to check cognitive ability. The results, "Normal" or "Impaired", are returned to the user instantly and also available to their family and medical institution via SMS and online. This test allows easy and periodic cognitive assessment. Population aging will be a global issue by 2030,This initiative will be pioneered in Japan, where the aging of the population is the most serious in the world.

Great design should have a big social impact, and the phone-based Cognitive Test Service developed by NTT DOCOMO certainly does. Users make a short call to a central hotline, where a dementia test is performed, allowing people to take action where necessary.
