The Corona Warning App helps to trace infection chains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Germany. The app is based on a decentralized approach and notifies users if they have been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Transparency is key to both protect the app's end-users and to encourage adoption. Highest data privacy standards, full transparency and a consumer-grade App design are key to achieve high adoption numbers and thereby overall effectiveness of the CWA system. Across Europe, CWA is the most used exposure notification app and has been a frontrunner for European interoperability.
