Marketing & Communications Manager for iF Design Japan (20 – 30 hours / week)

iF International Forum Design GmbH, based in Hanover, Germany, is one of the world's leading independent design institutions. We have been organizing the iF DESIGN AWARD since 1954. With more than 10,000 entries from 70 countries each year, it is one of the largest and most prestigious design awards in the world. We have offices in Korea, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Japan, USA, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Turkey.

In order to further grow strategically in Japan, we are seeking a Japan-based person who supports our local team of iF Design Japan with the intention to take over more responsibility within the next years. This position is for the time being planned with 20 – 30 hours / week.

To be successful as representative of iF Design Japan, you will work together with our existing team to provide service to the Japanese participants of the iF Design Award and network with our partners of iF Design as well as national design organizations to increase number of entries for the iF Design Award, oversee the local marketing budget and strengthen the company’s brand awareness and relevance in Japan.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Build relationships through systematic networking with existing and new participants for the iF Design Award

• Provide guidance and service on participation in the iF DESIGN AWARD, the iF Student Design Award and the iF Social Impact Prize.

• Cooperate with the German headquarters to support the operation and progress of each iF project in Japan.

• Work in a 2,5-person team and support our local head of iF Design Japan

• Manage and support the entire process from registration, screening, submission and awarding of Japanese awards submissions.

• Represent iF Design on panel discussions, conferences etc.

• Organize communication material or that can be used for public communication, mainly on social media.

• Work on an annual marketing plan together with the head of iF Design Japan

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or comparable degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Design, or a related field

• Fundamental understanding of Design, Design Trends, and the Design Community

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in business networking and strong relationships with Japan based companies, marketing agencies and designers.

• Excellent organization and outstanding communication skills

• Problem-solving and networking skills

• Good time management skills

• Willingness to travel to Germany twice a year.

• English-speaking (for communication with iF Design headquarters)
