Traditional Tile Patterns in Taiwan

Book

pan pan hua

This book presents four kinds of traditional Taiwanese tiles from the 1920s to the 1980s, recording and cataloging them according to their shapes and patterns. The first part of the book contains the relevant history of tiles, with photos taken by the authors throughout Taiwan. The second part provides 100 featured tile patterns, which were re-drawn and given a Pantone color guide by the authors. You can use these tile patterns for personal or commercial purposes if you credit the book as a source. The book aims to preserve the spirit and appreciation of traditional tiles through their reinterpretation and reproduction.

iF Gold Statement

This is an exciting and big-hearted look at traditional Taiwanese tile patterns. In this crowd-funded book, visual and product design, architecture and interior design collide gracefully. Besides presenting the tiles in their cultural and historical context, it offers open-source digital recreations of 100 patterns, as well as a glimpse at how this world is changing.
