PAL - Phase Alternating Line

Branding

The PAL is a club for analog techno music in Hamburg, located below the television tower. The name PAL stands for Phase Alternating Line, a transmission technology of colored images in analog televisions. The television analogy consistently determines all elements of the CD: For instance, the graphic design picks up the iconographic interfering signals of this time. The translation into a digital style imitates classic teletext. The book renders this concept into three pillars: the playable vinyl cover, the disturbing image of analog television, and the horizontal shifts as graphic translations.
